ABSTRACT

Capturing and growing landscape materials onsite will reduce greenwaste, allow a landscape to store more carbon, and offset the upstream costs of importing materials. Covered in this chapter are many of the landscape materials that can be generated with nothing more than a chainsaw, chipper, hand pruner, machete, and/or shovel. This chapter is divided into eight sections: Earthen products, fertilizers, fibers, mulch, pest control, propagules, screens, and woody products, such as planks and poles. In each of these sections is the common nomenclature, an extensive list of plants, and many tips for success.
