ABSTRACT

The power of choice is a fundamental right that we take for granted. In a prison, the inmates are deprived of the most routine choices – what to eat, what to wear, how to spend their time. Prison is not comparable to school, despite the opinion of some students; however, the loss of choice can be. Offering choice to students can go a very long way. Most of their school hours are deprived of much choice, and the concept of having options can change their mindset about work or behavior. Try to incorporate choices whenever possible.
