ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the concept of using humor in the classroom. Some teachers think that the use of humor can seem out of place in an educational setting; however, I would suggest that it is a great strategy to assuage certain behaviors without creating conflict. Also, teenagers have a pretty gnarly sense of humor, and they appreciate the well-placed joke as well as anyone else does. The important thing is to never make a joke at the expense of a student. I suggest using self-deprecating humor, knock yourself off the pedestal and get a laugh from the kids, too.
