ABSTRACT

Serial killers must be good enough at avoiding detection to kill more than once. Body disposal is one strategy available to them. While serial killers have a wide variety of motivations, this chapter focuses on sexually motivated serial killers. The case of Robert Pickton, who probably killed about 50 women, is examined to show how body disposal can delay or avoid detection. The chapter also discusses how the combination of victim selection and body disposal means that some victims of serial killers have never been identified as either murdered or missing.
