ABSTRACT

Several high-profile no-body homicide cases feature a killer who was middle-aged and successful. This chapter explores how they respond to a midlife crisis by turning to homicide and body disposal. Because of motive, they quickly become suspects but are clever enough to make it difficult to assemble enough evidence for a successful prosecution. Midlife crisis killers usually seek assistance for the hard work of body disposal. Upon their arrest, many attempt to recruit other inmates to kill witnesses, police, or prosecutors. This predilection to use others contributes to their ultimate conviction. These cases receive extensive publicity.
