ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to present the second pillar of ambidextrous digital leaders which is cultural intelligence (CQ). CQ is a competency not of an effective traditional leader (Deng & Gibson, 2008), but a competency of the effective digital leaders (Ruth & Nezter, 2020). The four main dimensions of cultural intelligence are illustrated in detail. Culture, as the main component of CQ, will be thoroughly discussed in order to understand what culture is and what it is not. It starts by linking CQ to digital leadership. Afterwards, the chapter explains the definition of cultural intelligence and provides the readers with a methodology to understand and apply cultural intelligence dimensions. CQ's malleability and nobleness are important and often neglected aspects within CQ are elaborated on here. Finally, the chapter critically examines the link between CQ and leadership effectiveness.
