ABSTRACT

Al-Harith is summoned to meet with Abu Zayd at his house in Simunul. Abu Zayd is terminally ill and wants al-Harith to take his valuables in order to sell them for charity. They discuss the characteristic features of Qurʾan manuscripts produced in Mindanao. Aisha locates an inlaid brass box used in the consumption of betel quid. Abu Zayd gives the box to her, also reciting Persian poetry about the narcotic.
