ABSTRACT

An overview is provided of important foundation disciplines and closely related fields as to how they contribute to Event Studies, with reference to event experiences, their nature and meanings, antecedents, planning and producing, outcomes and the impacted, and patterns and processes. These points are summarised in tables. The featured disciplines are: Anthropology; Sociology; Philosophy; Religious Studies; Psychology; Social Psychology; Economics; Political Science; Law; History; Human Geography; and Future Studies. The closely related fields, those with areas of professional practice that involve events, are Leisure, Sport, Visitor, Hospitality, Gender, and Health Studies. Selected readings are provided for each discipline and field. Consideration is also given to how Event Studies contributes to the foundations and related fields of study or professional practice.
