ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses entirely on specific exercises that assist the actors in finding their connection to the ground and space. Three basic types of walks are covered: the Neutral Walk, which is an exercise in creating awareness of the centre, overall physical focus, and attention; Bow: Front (arching your back), which is beneficial for allowing the breath to drop in the back and to exercise balance and control; and Bow: Back (bending back, leading from the belly), which, like Bow: Front, challenges the notion of the centre and allows the focus of breath and movement to originate from the lower belly area.
