ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on common influences on crisis coverage in journalism that impact nonverbal neutrality. It will outline how nonverbal neutrality is affected at both individual and social levels of influence, understood and enacted by individual journalists who are acted upon by professional standards and typifications at the social level. This chapter will serve as a guide for other scholars wishing to explore why nonverbal neutrality varies across journalistic coverage.
