ABSTRACT

The movement towards enhanced awareness, spontaneity and intimacy can be used as an alternative treatment planning method that focuses on health rather than pathology, or can be combined and used simultaneously with a script-challenging approach as a dual process model. In addition to addressing the client's script issues, the TA therapist proactively utilizes methods that will promote the development of awareness, spontaneity and intimacy. The movement towards enhanced awareness, spontaneity and intimacy can be used as an alternative treatment planning method that focuses on health rather than pathology, or can be combined and used simultaneously with a script-challenging approach as a dual process model. Recent developments in TA have introduced the concept of homonomy as a balance to the over-emphasis of the individualistic potential of autonomy. Similarly, interventions that deepen the recognition that humans are social animals, and that the people cannot survive alone, and it is only through relationships and social cooperation that they thrive also support homonomy.
