ABSTRACT
This chapter develops a theoretical and methodological framework for the work. As geopolitics is a rather shattered discipline, it is crucial to present its different streams and connect them to the space domain. The chapter thus develops a chronological approach to the main streams of geopolitics. These are further tied to outer space, highlighting the applicability of these methodologies to the domain. Outer space might be from the normative point of view perceived as a unique domain; however, from the power-relations point of view, this is not the case. Consequently, a theoretical framework for the work is being developed, followed by the methodological argument that guides the remains of the book.
