ABSTRACT

“The Neighbor” describes a young lady’s fascination with a beautiful woman who lives “across the way.” Every day, every day in the early morning, if the author push open the window, then he can see in the window of the building across the way a black-haired head looking down. That hair is very beautiful, especially under the rising, shining sun. It looks like wavy black magnetized metal, as alluring as slowly swaying Venuses. At first, he thought that was just an occasional sighting, but from day after day seeing that beautiful head, he start to be intrigued. Gradually, because of urgent homework, the author forgot everything about that mysterious woman across the way. So, it was unanticipated that on Saturday night, when he accompanied his little younger sister at the door, waiting to buy crabs, that she would walk by from the west, with hurried footsteps.
