ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 discusses the girl child’s relationships with the mother and the father and the Oedipal configuration. It discusses the first wave of feminism, the growth of support groups and the reason for their popularity. Through the women’s stories we learn what women did when they knew something was missing in their lives, why some felt deserving of punishment for having fallen in love with anther woman, why some felt an overwhelming sense of guilt, and how they dealt with the hypocritical aspects of their churches.
