ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 talks about changes in society’s acknowledgment of lesbianism, and the shift in society’s belief that one’s sexual persuasion was a personal choice. It talks about changes in the media in the last 25 years: lesbians featured on the covers of major magazines and TV shows with lesbian content. It talks about entering a relationship with emotional baggage and why there are no existent guidelines for MWLW coming out. Personal stories of women coming out to their husbands flow through the chapter including the consequences of their decisions. It also talks about what happens when the decision to tell is taken out of the MWLW’s hands and someone else tells.
