ABSTRACT
Chapter 5 discusses the kinds of men MWLW are married to. From the husbands’ perspectives we see how they deal with their wives’ disclosures and why some remain in their marriages while others leave. We see why some men see their wives’ same-gender choices as threatening and others as stimulating. Some of the men talk about their own insecurities and how their wives’ disclosures made them question and then deal with their own sexual issues. The husbands also talked about their fear of being ostracized if others find out, and about becoming more actively involved in their children’s worlds following their wives’ disclosures. Those who had a strong desire to keep their families intact, talked about working with their wives to resolve problems. Also discussed is part that celibacy plays in some of these marriages.
