ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 discusses the inevitable changes that occur in a household whether the mother chooses to share her new identity with her family or not. It discusses the pros and cons of hiding the mothers’ identities from their children and about the children’s main concerns: telling their friends, dealing with their own hidden anxieties and fear, coming to terms with the revelation of a parent’s homosexuality, and questioning their own sexuality. Children’s stories weave through this chapter. Some children talk about their feelings when their mother integrates a lover into family.
