ABSTRACT
Women’s coming out stories, including the author’s, thread through Chapter 7. This chapter discusses family structures and how an announcement is processed differently within each family depending on their own sexual issues. It talks about how friends accept the announcement. It talks about how a daughter’s coming out may change the infrastructure of the family and why some parents choose to become estranged from their daughters, while others choose acceptance. And it discusses how the representation of same-sex couples in commercials began and increased, and the difficulties in the beginning.
