ABSTRACT

The introduction chapter welcomes the reader and outlines the structure of the book. The concept of reproductive trauma is introduced as a distressing event or events during the perinatal period including conception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. The reader is introduced to the trauma-informed nature of the activities, ideas for how to personalize the book for their use and healing journey, and modification and choices they will have in moving through the workbook at their own pace. Trauma triggers, inclusive language, and modifications are also discussed to provide additional sensitivity for readers. Providers who work with survivors of reproductive trauma (such as ObGyns, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, midwives, doulas, etc.) are welcomed and given ideas of how they can use this book in their practices.
