ABSTRACT

Applying undecided can be a way for a student to gain overall admissions to a select program of interest through the university’s main door of developmental studies program or simply as an undeclared student within their general studies. Few can move into a specific program once admitted to the main university via an internal transfer from undecided to a specific major, but there is not always a certainty. Certain institutions (and the schools and colleges within the larger institution) more well-known for specific career-preparing programs such as nursing, engineering, and/or business (these small-niche programs) may limit the number of candidates admitted to the program. Ultimately, the competition is greater at these select programs and schools and colleges within the larger institution. Some programs may even carry their own set of applicant credentials. Despite there being various avenues for applying, it cannot be emphasized enough that there are no guarantees.
