ABSTRACT

Two- and four-year colleges offer a variety of education options for students. While many students may choose to attend a two-year community college for financial reasons, some also choose this pathway to start out to transfer to a preferred college of interest later; perhaps this candidate did not get accepted to their first-choice institution and they wish to transfer; or perhaps a transfer from a two-year institution would allow a student to realign academically and get grades to a place where acceptance to a preferred institution is more likely. There are many benefits to a two-year pathway such as seamless transfer articulation agreements between the same in-state institutions to a four-year institution; flexible enrollment options; forgoing of SAT/ACT testing; costs per credit are fractional compared with four-year institutions, and many two-year institutions offer full associate degree programs.
