ABSTRACT

The time allotted in areas other than matriculation into a college can be spent in a variety of ways: travel, work, volunteering, internship, or peace or mission work. Gap years have increased in popularity over the years, especially considering COVID. There is a growing understanding and overall acceptance of creating a pause between high school and college, and there are many good reasons some may be considering a pause. A gap year would otherwise afford a student a buffer year between high school and first-year college enrollment with a structured delayed start. Balance and health are key factors in the consideration of one taking a gap year. Students may take this gap year to heal and adjust. There is no just sitting around at home. It's important to showcase continued demonstrated commitment to self-learning and exploration, growth, and continued advancement of self throughout this year.
