ABSTRACT

The Genba Walk consists of going to a specific place to observe the situation and understand how to improve it. In the engineering field, the genba to focus on are the customers’ premises and then the obeya. Genba Walk is a routine for managers which consists of systematically and regularly going to the field, i.e., on the genba, to observe the facts first-hand and act accordingly, rather than based on what others say. Top-down attention, or goal-directed attention, refers to the voluntary control of attention to select the most relevant information. The top-down processing also allows us to make sense of the information that has already been brought in by the senses, working downward from initial impressions to specific details. It learns from past experiences and prior knowledge.
