ABSTRACT

The NHS is currently under a tremendous amount of pressure as a result of a number of factors including the impact of the pandemic, chronic underfunding, recruitment and retention of staff in all disciplines. There need to be some changes in the culture of the NHS as more people are brimming with ideas about what needs to change and how it can be delivered. Furthermore, although the NHS has changed in the past 75 years, and we need to look at the potential for further change. It is essential to connect different services in a much more integrated manner. As society becomes more litigious, clinicians are worried about not making too many changes, and they feel isolated and unsupported. Empowering staff and ensuring that all grades sit on the board of hospital trusts can help facilitate communication. Trainees need mentoring and coaching. Integration of public health with health is crucial, and there needs to be a national conversation about health including mental health.
