ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a broad overview of the changes undertaken as part of the ObamaCare reform. These changes concern, among others: the health insurance market, the pharmaceutical industry, government programs (such as Healthcare Insurance Marketplace or Medicaid), large employers, employees, or the uninsured. Although not all the announced changes have been finally introduced, such “ordering” of the announced changes will allow for a more accurate economic assessment of the effects of the reform and the feasibility of its assumptions. As a result, the point of view of ObamaCare supporters regarding the future shape (direction of change) of the US health care system will also be better considered. This is of particular importance for subsequent discussions on this topic, as they are often based on events from the past: both those that were successfully introduced and those that did not materialize.
