ABSTRACT
In this chapter we focus on ending lessons in a structured way. We consider the importance of retrieval practice, involving students and thinking through strategies for plenaries. Whilst recognising that plenaries provided feedback on learning, we also outline how this part of the lesson prepares students for what comes next. By bridging lessons in this way we are able to show that learning is not done in isolation and that current learning is transferable to new situations.
