ABSTRACT

Motive is the co-ordinating principle which enables functional complementarity to make sense of the multiple specificity of the array of land resources in a proprietary land unit. Perfect complementarity is the key to making a successful plan for a combination of proprietary land resources. The joint contribution of two or more resources in functional complementarity with each other to the achievement of motive can in a rough and ready way be indicated by coefficients of magnitude as percentages of an optimal contribution. It should be stressed that the coefficients are those of the contributions to the achievement of motive from three types of land resource such as farm land, house and cottages, in functional complementarity with each other. A predisposing function affecting the use of resources in the proprietary land unit invariably arises from decisions taken by antecessors in title to the proprietary land unit’s affected area or decisions taken over the use of resources in another proprietary land unit.
