ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the local turn and local effect in post–peace accord societies regarding neoliberal peacebuilding that includes economic aid. It emphasizes the qualitative research methods used to capture the insights and experiences of 102 funded civil society organizational leaders, 13 development officers working with the International Fund for Ireland and European Peace and Reconciliation Fund, and 5 civil servants administrating both funds. It also provides abstracts for each of the nine chapters. These include the six themes that emerged from the 1,300 pages of data, namely (1) the sustainable livelihoods of local peacebuilders, (2) providing recognition to local peacebuilders work, (3) local peacebuilders practical knowledge about peacebuilding efforts, (4) local peacebuilders discordance with the funding agencies and local and national governments, (5) local peacebuilders conflict transformation work, and (6) local peacebuilders engagement with partners and allies.
