ABSTRACT

There are unintended consequences of creating peacebuilding space through the economic funding for local civil society organizations (CSOs). This chapter covers local peacebuilders knowledge and wisdom. Their insights and practices are often overlooked by funders, politicians, and the public. Many of these local peacebuilders are in a negative work condition as their jobs will end when the funding ceases. The chapter includes their insights about how CSOs are contributing to single identity capacity building as well as cross communal peacebuilding, reconciliation, and community development. It also includes how local peacebuilders imagine a peaceful future emerging for their communities.
