ABSTRACT

Local peacebuilding middle-tier elites conflict transformation work plays an important role in connecting upper-tier elites with the grass roots in terms of transforming relationships. These local experts create space for building local capacity that has an institutional form and a human skill’s local knowledge form. Conflict transformation is inclusive of everyday peacebuilder’s agency and empowerment, identity, knowledge, and self in transforming local problems. This chapter includes a discussion of the significance of improving local cross communal relationships to tackle sectarianism, how local peacebuilding knowledge and wisdom informs peacebuilding that facilitates new partnerships, and how the funders often fund local civil society organizational projects that are non-controversial.
