ABSTRACT

Lollipop Logic is designed to present critical thinking skills to young students who may not yet have mastered reading skills. In the past, these skills have been reserved for much older students; however, there is nothing lacking in the development of very young students to prohibit introducing and nurturing these skills other than a degree of reading proficiency. Sequencing problems requires students to look at time relationships. Analogies are comparisons between things based on similar characteristics. Deduction is a form of inference in which the conclusion follows from premises or statements of fact. Exercises in pattern decoding present a series of figures that represent a pattern. Students are to study the illustrations to discover the pattern. The use of inference is a broad area of logic. Inference involves reaching conclusions from gathered evidence.
