ABSTRACT

Professor Rabie summarizes the rules of political success in five principles. To maximize its political influence as an important factor in international politics, Arab oil should take these five principles into consideration. This chapter explores both the potential of oil as a political weapon and the future prospects of Arab-Israeli conflict. Power plays a major role in international relations. The quest for power has always been an important factor in motivating human activities and in determining one man’s relations with another. Political power is a psychological relationship between those exercising it and those subjected to its influence. It provides those exercising power with a degree of control over some of the actions of those subjected to its influence through three sources: expectation of reward, fear of harm, and love or respect of the discipline. The source of Arab oil power depends on the political power of Arab nation, which is in turn dependent on the economic position of Arab oil-producers.
