ABSTRACT

This final chapter summarises and reflects on how the case studies presented in this book demonstrate the many ways in which gendered local and global power dynamics interact in complex ways to influence fictional and biographical cinematic representations of African women and girls who participate in or are affected by African political conflicts. The chapter also summarises how the representations depict women’s and girls’ agency in relation to their participation in social, economic and political activities within their communities and states. In line with the transformative goal of decolonial feminism, the chapter ends by exploring whether it is possible to offer representations that truly privilege the voices of African women and girls affected by African political conflicts, given the complex processes and power dynamics that characterise film production.
