ABSTRACT

Entering an in-depth therapeutic process is very much an individual journey. Many may seek answers from others, but so often superfluous comments, insights, and annotations prove unhelpful; it was the other person's exploration for the answers, not their own. To really seek the truth, they must go inside themselves and ask the hard questions. The hero's journey begins when someone chooses to leave the familiar behind, accepting the need to go into the unknown to heal something inside. Frequently, this requires a mentor, someone to help navigate the unfamiliar. In the PVT there is a mobilizing state called Sympathetic. It is there where reactive protector Parts step in to take control. Firefighters are willing to do anything to avoid feeling any emotional pain; they are reactive, impulsive, often controlling, rebellious, self-harming, and do not appear helpful at all.
