ABSTRACT

How do people think about their own creativity? This question can include both self-beliefs (“I think I can”) and insights into personal strengths and weaknesses. Some people might identify as being creative and have full confidence that they can, for example, hit that high note (metaphorically or literally) – but that self-belief is poorly placed if time and time again they fail magnificently. Similarly, people should recognize what types of creative expression are the best fit for their abilities and talents. An activity about 1950s musicals helps illustrate the gap that may exist between what we know and what we think we know.
