ABSTRACT

Over the course of this book, we have gained a better understanding of the issues at stake, the environment in which we operate and our needs in terms of thermal comfort. We have identified how traditional tropical housing can inspire us. On this basis, we have been able to identify individual solutions to protect us from solar radiation and the heat of the outside air. Then we have learned how to manage endogenous heat and how to keep cool. We have also found that it was possible to design a house that would take on board the recommendations, without insurmountable additional costs and with a substantial return on investment in the medium term. Finally, we have showed that all this is possible while drastically reducing our environmental footprint.
