ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses the Korean cultural industries that have grown rapidly over the past three decades, including broadcasting, film, music, animation, and gaming, and how these industries have successfully penetrated global markets. This chapter discusses the shifting role of the Korean cultural industries in the context of the broader social structure. By comprehensively explaining the growth of several cultural industries in the Korean Wave, this chapter discusses how the Korean cultural industries have successfully penetrated the global markets. It also considers the nexus of the Korean government and Korean cultural industries, explaining how these industries played a crucial role in the rise of Hallyu.
