ABSTRACT
The chapter considers the conceptual framework for this manuscript, focusing on the three fundamental elements: virtue, ubuntu, and character. This conceptual framework aims to introduce the general theoretical framework that informs most of the elements in this work. It clarifies these terms and explains them in relation to other concepts such as ‘'moral character'’ and '‘character education.'’ The chapter is not restricted to African philosophy but considers insights from different philosophical traditions.
