ABSTRACT

The chapter reflects on the theoretical problems of ubuntu eudaimonia theories. It builds two fundamental arguments, first, the virtue deficiency argument, and second the theoretical orientation conception problem (this presents the ubuntu conventionalism argument). The virtue deficiency argument states that ubuntu theories overstretch the other-regarding virtues and tend to ignore the self-regarding and intellectual virtues. The discussion in this chapter will motivate the necessity of critical reconstruction that mitigates these weaknesses.
