What do you say when you want to appropriately and respectfully address an inappropriate outburst in your classroom? This chapter provides teacher-friendly charts with Great Teacher Language (GTL) Reminders to Self, GTL to Share with Students, GTL to Use When Talking and Communicating with Parents, and GTL Classroom Activities specifically related to the following:
Scenario 6.1: A student yells out, “This is so boring!”
Scenario 6.2: A student yells out, “This is stupid. I can’t do it!”
Scenario 6.3: A student yells out, “Why do we need to learn this?”
Scenario 6.4: A student yells out profanity, “@#$%”
Scenario 6.5: A student yells out a verbally aggressive outburst and/or acts out a physically aggressive outburst.
