ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 gives a background for this research. The subject itself has, of course, been tackled by a number of scholars and constitutes a sub-field in itself, as shown in Chapter 1, but the author is able to systematically present the range of scholarly opinions in Chapter 2, in a way that puts her research in its proper context. Fuzzy logic employs the theory of fuzzy sets in the study of fuzzy modes of language and thought. After a careful review of findings about fuzzy language and translation from both home and abroad, this monograph proposes to re-define and classify the fuzzy language so as to find out the translation methods that can be of help for the translating of fuzzy language in literary works. In addition, it puts forward a notion of the law of fuzziness that is to be proved tenable in translation practice and translation studies.
