ABSTRACT

The introductory chapter relates the argument of the book to the prior two volumes of Void Universalism. We demonstrate how the concept of politics developed in these volumes posed the question of its scope and power. Is politics all there is in the world and does it have total power over the worldly order? Answering these questions in the negative opens our inquiry onto the coexistence of politics with over procedures regulating being and acting in the world, including but not limited to ethics, aesthetics, economy or government and theory. This chapter introduces the notion of procedure, contextualizing our approach in the history of pluralist thought from the late 20th century onward. It concludes with the outline of the structure of the book.
