ABSTRACT

The planet is being destroyed by the class-nation and gender domination and by them alone. Destructivism unfolds within a social order of which the concept “capitalism” gives an essential but insufficient idea. In this process, class domination includes both capital-power and competence-power, in the entanglement between the World-State and the World-System. Male dominance manifests its ecological blindness on both registers.

It should be distinguished between the “production for profit” proper to capital and the “production for production” proper to competence. Both these class factors contribute to productivism and to consumerism. “Productivism” constitutes the point from which “consumerism” ought to be analysed, even though this latter in turn resounds on the former.

As Althusser points out, theory is weakened by its transformation into philosophy. On the other hand, theory cannot evade the philosophical questions that it raises. It is in this sense that metastructural theory confronts the works of Rawls and Habermas.
