ABSTRACT

This final chapter offers a summary and discussion of the threads that these programs have in common. In order of frequency of occurrence, these are: peer interaction; discourse, dialogue, argumentation; transfer/bridging; modeling; scaffolding; teacher role; vocabulary; reflection; building on others’ ideas; feedback; questioning; prediction; judgment and decision-making; self-esteem and self-efficacy; giving/allowing time; brainstorming; explanations; strategies and heuristics; diagrams, graphic organizers and concept maps; ability of students; ZPD/difficulty; summarizing; mediation; training. Teachers might use this list to devise their own thinking skills programs.
