ABSTRACT

A prediction is what someone thinks will happen in the future. Studies of prediction often combine prediction with evaluation – determining whether the prediction was correct or not. Prediction has also been combined with self-questioning. Prediction has been examined in mathematics, science and reading, in all cases with positive effects. In reading, the difficulty of texts is a factor. Dyslexic students show metacognitive abilities, albeit at a lower level. In terms of teacher behavior, modeling, assessment, questioning and dealing with misbehavior are associated with prediction ability. The specimen program looks at prediction with severely and profoundly deaf students, showing the development in their ability.
