ABSTRACT

Diagrams are visual representations of data or information that communicate a concept, idea or process, often in a simplified and easily understandable way. Different kinds of diagrams are used to display different patterns of relationships. Concept mapping and Vee diagramming are two widely used types of diagrams, but there are many more. Concept mapping has three subsidiary types. Roundhouse diagrams are quite different. Giving instruction on conventions of diagrams can improve student performance. A study of learning styles showed different kinds of learners preferred different kinds of learning by diagramming.
