ABSTRACT

Students with Learning Difficulties or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) might have weaker memories than normal students, which might impair their ability to benefit from metacognitive training. Consequently, many authors suggest training metacognitive skills together with memory training, and studies have found this effective. Additionally, some studies have found training in metacognitive skills to improve working memory even when no working memory training was given. A meta-analysis of metacognition training in students with learning disabilities found it was very effective.
