ABSTRACT

In the modern world, stress has been associated with the working condition and nature of work vis-a-vis the coping capacity of the individuals. It is suggested that principal environmental features are important to mental health in a similar manner: their absence tends towards and impairment in mental health, but their presence beyond a required level does not hold further benefit. The work-life vitamin theory may be considered as very useful and appropriate in the assessment of and causal analysis of worklife stresses. The mechanism of stress works similar to the mechanism ofbeing diseased. Stress develops in work life in the absence of certain factors to which the individual assigns most credentials and fails to achieve or keep pace. Social support theory proposes that regular contact with a larger base of social entities provides wider support for the doer. Multiple stressors can have certain positive effects at times.
