ABSTRACT

The scientific world has learnt to understand things through a series offragmentations, divisions and subdivisions. Hegel, a Western philosopher, had one of the most penetrating views about the emergence of man and spirit. It remains to be seen how willpower works and what its position is in the divinity in life. The idea is to cleanse the mind of psychological contamina- tions. Jealousy, envy, anger, covetousness, lust, gluttony, sloth, etc. are the emotional or psychological impurities of the mind. Practices have to be done for a fairly long period with earnest devotion and without distraction. Practices for self-mastery leads to non-attachment, freedom from desire for what is seen or heard. Divine embodied in man can cope with stress in the best possible manner and most effectively. Introspection exercise is done regularly; additionally, the dedication of mind and consecration unto the divine lead to a holistic personality who develops the power to cope in stressful situations.
