ABSTRACT

Three additional CAM treatments are showing significant promise in the general population and are starting to be used for pregnant and postpartum women. All appear safe for treating depression, even during pregnancy. And all reduce depressive symptoms compared to placebos or usual-care. These treatments include acupuncture, transient direct current stimulation, and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation. These treatments may be difficult to access but, given their effectiveness, are likely to become more readily available.
